Autofill for 'Add New' buttons

oh, I'm dumb, you CAN do that:

What we need is for the pre-fill field to select the current user. For example, if you have multiple sales people who create an event, that the events they create should automatically be associated with that sales person.

Set Default Values in Create Fields
A
Armen Nercesian
When I'm building a Create form, there are often times that I have a field that I'd like to be selected by Default.
For example, I'd like budget submissions to always default to the single select "Status: In Review." Would love to be able to set Status as a hidden field, and define it as "always select In Review".
Sure, I can accomplish this with an Airtable automation, but then the user doesn't get to see this status upon submission - we have to wait for the sync.

This is now complete. You can set default values for the create forms. https://support.stackerhq.com/hc/en-us/articles/13713332737043-Default-Values-On-Create-Forms

Team Stacker: It is NOT complete. Not very useful to select a default value in a create record form. What we really need is to autofill with the appropriate
related record
when using "add new" to create a record from a related record list.Team Stacker

Prefill Hidden Fields

It would be nice to be able to prefill fields in forms by default. For example, set the "status" field to "todo" every time a new form is submitted. The field would not be visible to the user.

Pre-fill fields on forms without needing autofill

I'd like to be able to have create form fields pre-defined without needing to use the autofill feature.
Why?
1) Allows me to do things like setting a record as "under review" upon submission without needing to do it with an airtable automation, which causes a 15m delay on that record populating into filtered list views (in my case, sorted for only showing things under review), or via an end-user-visible URL.
This would also be helpful for basic user convenience. Being able to have a handful of items pre-answered by default will increase completion rates!

Autofill data input (ability to specify autofill field data)

Would be nice to have the ability to choose which fields get autofilled and enter values for these fields on the add new forms. This would be great instead of creating an autofill formula to achieve the same result.

I created a similar feature request before seeing this post. Vote on it here.

For sure - however Jeff Miller I think this might be the same feature request as https://feedback.stackerhq.com/feature-requests/p/set-default-values-in-create-fields

Eric Lord: Yes, that does seem to be the same thing. Although arguably a little bit more confusing to understand from the title. I'll post a link to this request there as well.

Yes, completely agree. Especially required when you are showing filtered lists and there are Add New button on the lists. The user assumes that the new object being created is as per that filter. For something like this there is no workaround through automations either.
