Use current user data in action buttons

I see a lot of potential in being able to identify who clicked a button. For example, an action button that changes data could automatically log who made the last change (either via linked field to 'users' table, or by entering email address or name)

Adding our support for this as well.  
Basically I'd like an option to create an action that adds the current user account to a multi select list.
Use case:  User sign-up form.   User browses a page and decides they want to sign up for an event.  They click a "sign-up" action button.  The system then automatically takes that user account record ID, and adds it to a multi-select list.
Benefit:  Allows users to self serve adding themselves to a multi-select field without having to expose that field directly.  This means users cant see other accounts that are contained in the list, and importantly there is no risk of a user accidentally removing other accounts from a list.
